Caledonia uses shootout to best Ancaster, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Caledonia Corvairs defeated the Ancaster Avalanche in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams.

Caledonia overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Corvairs trailed 3-2 after a power play goal by Ancaster's Cole Nagy at 9:54 in the second period. Caledonia tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Tyler Lepore at 2:15 in the third period.

The Corvairs were led by Lepore, who had one goal.

Caledonia kept the Avalanche's goalie busy throughout the game, and Blake Richard made 41 saves on 45 shots.

Caledonia additionally got points from Ryan Moran, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Caledonia also got a goal from Connor Bramwell as well. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Jordan Peacock, Nathan Gomes, Mitch Purdie, Cosimo Fontana, and Jake Brown, who contributed one each.

Ancaster's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Caledonia power plays.

Ryan Cox also scored for Ancaster. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Lucas Triemstra, Luke Zupan, Max Balinson, and Ryan Knill, who each chipped in one.

The Corvairs' Kevin Entmaa stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Caledonia incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Avalanche incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
