Huge game by Ethier boosts Thorold over Niagara Falls, 9-5

The Thorold Blackhawks' Dawson Ethier had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 9-5 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks.

Ethier found the back of the net on the power play 14:12 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Thorold and again while 14:24 into the second to make the score 5-3 Thorold.

Niagara Falls fell victim to a deadly Thorold power play, which ripped the Canucks for four goals.

The Blackhawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Niagara Falls was unable to stop Thorold from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blackhawks eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Thorold outdid its season average for goals scored. The Blackhawks average 3.4 goals per game.

Thorold also got points from Mitchell Mendonca, who also racked up two goals and two assists and Tyler Sehovic, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Thorold included Francesco Gigliotti and Anthony Postiglione, who each put in two. More assists for Thorold came via Connor Timmins, who had two, Jake Lloyd, Kyle Langdon, Ian Shorthouse, and Aaron Nunes, who each chipped in one, and Vito Scaringi and Nick Sacco, who contributed three each.

The Canucks' offense rang up 47 shots on Thorold's net. Niagara Falls could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Canucks were helped by Mac Hollowell, who grabbed one goal. Hollowell scored 7:28 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Niagara Falls additionally got points from Zack Lansfield, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Austin Wright, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Niagara Falls also had goals scored by Matthew Mannella and Jeffrey Venzon, who scored one goal each. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Sean Farquharson, who had two and Frank Pucci, Matthew Thorpe, and Christian Lea, who each chipped in one.

Shorthouse recorded 42 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Niagara Falls' Joeseph Murdaca stopped 37 shots out of the 46 that he faced.
