Pickard's hat trick boosts LaSalle over Lambton Shores, 7-1

A hat trick by Graham Pickard was the highlight in Vipers' 7-1 win against the Lambton Shores Predators.

Pickard got on the scoresheet 2:21 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:40 into the second and at 15:01 into the third.

The LaSalle Vipers were led by goalie Eli Billing, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. Billing certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.97 entering the contest.

Lambton Shores' power play was ineffective against LaSalle's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:49 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

The Vipers were often in penalty trouble, totaling 14 minors and four majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. LaSalle had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Vipers stifled the Predators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. LaSalle kept Lambton Shores' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Hurtubise made 34 saves on 41 shots.

LaSalle also got points from Korey Morgan, who also tallied three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Connor Rosaasen also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Daniel Beaudoin, who had two and Nicolas Crescenzi, Chris Pignanelli, and Manny Silverio, who contributed one each.

The Predators racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and three majors for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game Lambton Shores had been spending in the box. The Vipers were unable to stop the Predators from sending pucks towards the net, and Lambton Shores eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Predators was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 12 chances with a man advantage.

Lambton Shores was led by Nick Sproveiro, who scored the team's only goal. Sproveiro scored 1:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lambton Shores. Brett Corrigan assisted on the tally.

LaSalle registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Brett Langlois, Pignanelli, Brendan McGhee, and Dalton Langlois were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. For the Predators, Adam Wammes, Ethan Sarfati, and Ryan Fraser were ejected from the contest.
