Brampton falls to Kitchener in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Kitchener Dutchmen pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Brampton Bombers on a clutch goal by Adam Kawalec.

Kitchener got the win thanks to a great game by Kawalec, who had two goals and one assist. Kawalec scored the first of his two goals at 16:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Ellis assisted on the tally. Kawalec's next tally made the score 4-3 Kitchener with 16:21 left in overtime. Ellis picked up the assist.

The Dutchmen's penalty kill excelled, as Kitchener gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The Dutchmen stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kitchener forced the Bombers goalie Jake Lawr to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Kitchener also got points from Connor Cole, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Jacob Cascagnette as well. More assists for Kitchener came via Sean Allen and Jeremy Kuehn, who each chipped in one.

Brampton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

The Bombers were helped by Carmine Vietri, who had one goal. Vietri scored 14:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Brandon Stapley assisted on the tally. Brampton additionally got points from Cameron Cruickshank, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kevin Bray, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Brampton received assists from Lucas Goodman and Brad Bollert, who contributed one each.

The Dutchmen's David Lobsinger stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Kitchener incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Lawr rejected 34 shots on goal for Brampton. The Bombers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
