Kitchener downs Listowel, 6-2

The Kitchener Dutchmen took home the 6-2 victory over the Listowel Cyclones.

Kitchener's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Listowel power plays. The Dutchmen's offense rang up 35 shots on Listowel's net. Kitchener found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Dutchmen have scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Kitchener got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Dutchmen were led by Alex Demrovsky, who had one goal and two assists. Demrovsky scored 17:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kitchener. Kyle Ellis assisted on the tally. Kitchener also got points from Ellis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kitchener included Austin Gaboury, Taite Wirschke, Jacob Cascagnette, and Connor Cole, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Jeremy Kuehn, who had two and Scott Pedersen, Philip Moser, John Nay, Mitchell Smith, Nic Hague, Keegan Calder, and Nick Trecroce, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Listowel finished below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Cyclones were led by Derek Elliot, who tallied two goals. Elliot scored the first of his two goals at 14:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Corey Flemington picked up the assist. Elliot's next tally made the score 2-1 Listowel with 15:08 left in the second period. Ben VanOotegham provided the assist. More assists for Listowel came via Tim Nauta, who had one.

Kitchener's Jackson McIntosh stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Dutchmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ryan Hergott made 29 saves for Listowel on 35 shots.
