LaSalle blows out Strathroy, 6-1

The LaSalle Vipers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Strathroy Rockets.

Strathroy was stymied by LaSalle's netminder Paolo Battisti, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Battisti certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.4 entering the contest.

The Vipers were paced by Graham Pickard, who tallied one goal. Pickard scored 11:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle. Brett Langlois picked up the assist.

LaSalle put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rockets to score on any of their three power plays. The Vipers kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 27 saves on 33 shots.

Others who scored for LaSalle included Chris Pignanelli, Eric Kirby, Manny Silverio, Connor Rosaasen, and Brett Primeau, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Nick Gauvin, who had one and Nicolas Crescenzi and Nathan Savage, who each chipped in two.

The Rockets were led by Nick Boyer, who scored the team's only goal. Boyer scored 18:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. Tyler Duarte provided the assist.

LaSalle incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Strathroy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
