The Elmira Sugar Kings pulled out a 7-6 (OT) overtime victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks on a clutch goal by Mitch Wright. Although Elmira was up by as many as three goals in the second period, Cambridge kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Winter Hawks pulled to within 6-5 on a goal by Parker Wood at 7:51 in the third period. Wright had two goals to lead the Sugar Kings to victory. Elmira kept Cambridge's goalie busy throughout the game, and Owen Savory made 53 saves on 60 shots. Elmira also got points from Mitch Klie, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Cash Seraphim, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Elmira included Rob Kohli, Mac Clutsam, and Matt Harding, who each put in one. In addition, Elmira received assists from Alex Mutton and Jamie Huber, who contributed one each and Brodie Whitehead, Adam Brubacher, Eric Palazzolo, and Zac Coulter, who each chipped in two. The Winter Hawks forced the Sugar Kings goalie Andrew Lefebvre to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Cambridge bested its season scoring average. The Winter Hawks have scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Cambridge was helped by Josh Grant, who grabbed one goal. Grant scored 17:13 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Elmira. Cambridge additionally got points from Wood, who also registered one goal and one assist, Zach Magwood, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jordan Chard, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jake Moggy, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Yanni Skropolis (AP) as well. More assists for Cambridge came via Riley MacRae, who had two and Emmerson Small, Zach Hedley, Devin Shell, and Phil Caputo, who contributed one each. Andrew Lefebvre made 27 saves for Elmira on 33 shots. The Sugar Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Winter Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
