Brantford beats Stratford 5-3 after comeback scare

The Brantford 99ers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Stratford Cullitons on the way to a 5-3 win.

Brantford made the score 5-2 on a goal by Gus Ford at 19:37 in the second period, and Stratford got as close as 5-3 when Deven Kropf scored 9:01 into the third period.

Paris Briscoe had two goals to lead the 99ers to victory. Briscoe found the back of the net 11:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brantford and again while on the power play 19:02 into the second to make the score 4-2 Brantford.

Brantford was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 38 penalty minutes.

In addition, Brantford received assists from Cole Cummings, Dominick Horvath, and Zander Pryor, who contributed one each and David Storey, Guy Polillo, and Mitch Atkins, who each chipped in two.

The Cullitons forced the 99ers goalie Jack Moylan to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Stratford had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Stratford additionally got points from Jake Pleon, who also registered one goal and two assists. More assists for Stratford came via Shane O Brien and Zach Van Louwe, who contributed one each.

Moylan recorded 28 saves for Brantford. The 99ers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Nick Redman made 24 saves for the Cullitons on 29 shots. Stratford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Cullitons, Carter Allen was ejected from the game.
