Jackson McIntosh was superb between the pipes for the Kitchener Dutchmen, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks. Kitchener's penalty kill excelled, as the Dutchmen gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. Kitchener was led by Mitchell Smith, who had one goal. Smith scored 6:32 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Scott Pedersen picked up the assist. The Dutchmen forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. Kitchener surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Dutchmen stifled Cambridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kitchener was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Dutchmen average 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Winter Hawks were unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Others who scored for Kitchener included Alex Demrovsky and Jeremy Kuehn, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Austin Gaboury, Jordan Delaurier, and Nick Trecroce, who each chipped in one. Cambridge's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kitchener power plays. The Winter Hawks were held below their usual level of production. Cambridge puts an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game. The Winter Hawks' offense rang up 34 shots on Kitchener's net. The Dutchmen's McIntosh stopped 34 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob Norcott was ejected from the game. Owen Savory made 31 saves for Cambridge on 34 shots. The Winter Hawks ended with 45 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Cambridge, Zach Hedley was ejected from the game.
