Trowell leads Sarnia over St. Marys, 6-0

The Sarnia Legionnaires' Cody Trowell had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 6-0 win over the St. Marys Lincolns.

Trowell got on the board by slotting home a goal 1:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sarnia. Davis Boyer assisted on the tally. Trowell dished an assist on Kyler Keating's goal that made the score 2-0 Sarnia at 9:13 into the first period. He then added assists on Boyer's goal at 3:23 into the second and on Tyler Prong's goal at 15:58 into the second.

Cornel Felder frustrated St. Marys' offense all game, and stopped 28 shots en route to a shutout. Felder managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.0 prior to the game.

Sarnia stifled the Lincolns' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Legionnaires featured an improved defense during the game. Sarnia allows 2.8 goals per game. The Legionnaires' offense rang up 37 shots on St. Marys' net. The defensemen of Sarnia were also effective in the Lincolns' zone, and came away with three goals.

Sarnia additionally got points from Boyer, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Prong, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Keating, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Sarnia included Brad Campbell and Ryan Trottier, who each put in one. More assists for Sarnia came via Bobby King, who had one.

The Legionnaires incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. St. Marys' Andrew Masters stopped 31 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Lincolns incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. St. Marys ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt McGall was ejected from the game.
