Huge game by VanOotegham boosts Listowel over Waterloo, 4-1

Ben VanOotegham was all over the ice for the Listowel Cyclones, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Listowel's 4-1 win over the Waterloo Siskins.

VanOotegham scored 44 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. Derek Elliot provided the assist. VanOotegham dished an assist on Elliot's goal that made the score 1-0 Listowel at 7:13 into the first period. He added another helper on Riley Robertson's goal that made the score 3-1 Listowel at 44 seconds into the third period.

The Cyclones were led by goalie Ryan Hergott, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Hergott certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.5 entering the contest.

Listowel pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Listowel also got points from Elliot, who also had one goal and one assist. Listowel also got a goal from Caleb Warren as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Blake Pickering, Blake Nichol, Tim Nauta, Chayse Herrfort, and Brad Yowart, who contributed one each.

Waterloo could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Siskins average 5.0 goals per game. Waterloo forced the Cyclones goalie Hergott to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Siskins were led by Chase Campbell, who scored the team's only goal. Campbell scored on the power play 18:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Waterloo had gotten the advantage when Listowel's Corey Flemington was sent off for interference. Evan Kearns picked up the assist.

The Cyclones registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Evgeny Kiselev made 21 saves for the Siskins on 25 shots. Waterloo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
