Niagara Falls erases deficit to stun Fort Erie, 4-3Gale Centre Fri, Sep 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Falls Canucks rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Fort Erie Meteors. Niagara Falls never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Canucks trailed 3-1 after a goal by Fort Erie's Wade Kenny at 6:23 in the second period. Niagara Falls knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Austin Wright at 3:26 in the third period. The Canucks netted the game winner at 9:59 in the third period on a goal by Wright. Niagara Falls was led by Christian Lea, who had one goal. The Canucks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Niagara Falls kept the Meteors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Conway made 33 saves on 37 shots. Niagara Falls additionally got points from Frank Pucci, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Nigel Slade, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Jeffrey Venzon, Zack Lansfield, and Mac Hollowell, who each chipped in one. Fort Erie put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Canucks to score on any of their four power plays. Fort Erie also got points from Devin Darrah, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fort Erie also got a goal from Holden Garlent as well. More assists for Fort Erie came via Riley Hollowell, Richard DeMarco, and Romaeo D Intino, who contributed one each. Niagara Falls' Dylan Pietrangelo stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Canucks ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Niagara Falls, Matthew Mannella and Trevor Simonick were ejected from the contest. The Meteors ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Fort Erie, Tristan Drescher was ejected from the game.
