Leamington wins tough contest against London, 4-2

The game between the Leamington Flyers and the London Nationals was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Leamington emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Flyers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alex Friesen 9:50 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Leamington was sparked by Chris Scott, who racked up one goal. Scott scored 16:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Leamington. Mitchell Amante picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, London was led by Drew Worrad, who registered two goals. Worrad scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. A tripping penalty on Colin Moore had put the Nationals on the power play. Kyle L Robinson provided the assist. Worrad's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Leamington with 13:31 left in the third period. Robinson picked up the assist.

The Flyers forced London goalie Justin Tugwell to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Leamington additionally got points from Amante, who also had one goal and one assist and Kyle Perkowski, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Leamington received assists from Ryan Muzzin, who had two and Matthew Opblinger and Zack Guilbeault, who each chipped in one.

Other players who recorded assists for London were Derek Todosichuk and Tanner Lafrance, who contributed one each.

Michael Barrett rejected 20 shots on goal for Leamington. The Flyers totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Leamington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob McGhee was ejected from the game. Tugwell recorded 33 saves for the Nationals. London incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
