A five-goal first period deficit cost the Pelham Pirates, which could not recover and fell to the Welland Jr. Canadians, 8-2. JC Thivierge had a great game for Welland, netting two goals. Thivierge scored on the power play at 11:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Welland and again while 13:22 into the first to make the score 3-0 Welland. The Jr. Canadians forced Pirates' goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots and forcing 38 saves. Daniel Kocsis made nine stops and Matthew Camilleri made 29. Welland's goal total was higher than its season average. The Jr. Canadians average 4.0 goals per game. Welland additionally got points from Francois Plamondon, who also had one goal and one assist and Kris Melna, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Welland also got a goal from Matt Cuglietta as well. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Caleb Ambrosio APM, Jack Fitzgerald, Nathan MacDuff, Josh Allan, Damien Lalonde, Gabe Ruggi, Andy Paul, and Cameron Aitken, who contributed one each and Thomas Flack, Riley Mocha, and Matt Martin, who each chipped in two. Brandon McCorriston rejected 22 shots on goal for Welland. The Jr. Canadians incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pelham incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
