Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Waterloo Siskins defeated the Kitchener Dutchmen in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO). The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Waterloo got a shootout goal from Chase Campbell.The Siskins' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kitchener power plays. Waterloo's offense rang up 38 shots on Kitchener's net. The Siskins were helped by Danny Hanlon, who registered three goals. More assists for Waterloo came via Eric Cimino, who had one, Campbell, who had two, and Christian Mroczkowski, who had three. The Dutchmen forced Waterloo goalie Evgeny Kiselev to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Kitchener was helped by Adam Kawalec, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kawalec scored 7:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Connor Cole picked up the assist. Kitchener additionally got points from Cole, who also had one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Alex Demrovsky as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Keegan Calder, who had two and Matt Scott and Jeremy Kuehn, who contributed one each. Kiselev rejected 33 shots on goal for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Cimino and Gary Mantz were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. David Lobsinger recorded 34 saves for the Dutchmen. Kitchener incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
