Muir's hat trick boosts Guelph over Brantford, 6-3

The Brantford 99ers could not stop the Guelph Hurricanes' Brooker Muir, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Muir's first goal came 2:42 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:22 into the second and at 7:52 into the third.

Brantford fell victim to a deadly Guelph power play, which ripped the 99ers for four goals.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:42 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Hurricanes kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mathieu Kingsley made 33 saves on 39 shots. Guelph could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 25 minutes in penalties during the game.

Guelph also got points from Craig Martini, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Dylan Sayle, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jordan Hatzinger also scored for Guelph. More assists for Guelph came via Patrick Kudla, who had four and Alex Remedios, Sheehan Kirkwood, and Matt Nightingale, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game Brantford had been spending in the box. The Hurricanes were unable to stop the 99ers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brantford eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The 99ers were led by Mitch Atkins, who racked up two goals. Atkins scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brantford had gained a power play chance when Jake Wyse was whistled for checking from behind. Matthew Woods assisted on the tally. Atkins' next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Brantford with 10:21 left in the second period. The 99ers had taken the advantage when Guelph's Tristan Liggett got sent off for charging. Zander Pryor provided the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Gus Ford, who also had one goal and one assist. Brantford also got a goal from David Denardi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Guy Polillo, who had two.

Liam Devine made 32 saves for the Hurricanes on 35 shots. For Guelph, Wyse and Ryan Migliaccio were ejected from the contest. Brantford registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For the 99ers, Scotty Penwarden was ejected from the game.
