Caledonia beats Niagara Falls 4-3 after comeback scare

The Caledonia Corvairs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Niagara Falls Canucks on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Tyler Lepore put Caledonia up 4-2 in the third period, but Niagara Falls pulled to within one on Austin Wright's tally 14:00 into the third period.

Lepore was all over the ice for the Corvairs, as he tallied two goals in the win.

Caledonia's offense rang up 60 shots on the Canucks' net. The Corvairs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Caledonia also got points from Jayme Forslund, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Todd Ratchford also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Matthew Hore, who had two and Connor Patton, Nathan Gomes, and Jacob Buch, who each chipped in one.

Niagara Falls could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Canucks put an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game.

Niagara Falls was helped by Colton Anstey, who finished with one goal. Anstey scored on the power play 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. Wright picked up the assist. Niagara Falls additionally got points from Wright, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Nigel Slade as well. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Zack Lansfield, who had two and Matthew Mannella and Christian Lea, who contributed one each.

Kevin Entmaa made 25 saves for Caledonia on 28 shots. The Corvairs registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Joeseph Murdaca rejected 56 shots on goal for the Canucks. Niagara Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
