Huge game by Scott boosts Leamington over St. Marys, 5-2Pyramid Recreation Centre Fri, Sep 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Chris Scott had two goals and one assist to lead the Leamington Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns. Scott scored on the power play at 12:41 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Leamington and again while on the power play 13:55 into the third to make the score 5-2 Leamington.In the losing effort, St. Marys was paced by Rai Di Loreto, who racked up two goals. Di Loreto scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. The Lincolns earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Muzzin was put in the box for roughing. Nathan Smith assisted on the tally. Di Loreto's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 2:52 left in the second period. Mitch Read picked up the assist. Leamington kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Masters made 39 saves on 44 shots. The Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Leamington also got points from Eric Henderson, who also registered one goal and two assists. Leamington also had goals scored by Cale Allen and Kyle Perkowski, who each put in one. In addition, Leamington received assists from Cale Phibbs, Blake Rutckyj, Matthew Opblinger, and Kyle Quick, who contributed one each. Leamington was unable to stop the Lincolns from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Marys eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Garrett James, who had one. Michael Barrett recorded 32 saves for the Flyers. Leamington registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Lincolns incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
