LaSalle outlasts Strathroy, 5-3Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Sep 17, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers and the Strathroy Rockets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but LaSalle made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Manny Silverio secured the win for the Vipers with a goal in the third period. Silverio was all over the ice for LaSalle, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Silverio scored the first of his two goals at 13:50 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Brett Primeau provided the assist. Silverio's next tally made the score 4-3 LaSalle with 19:23 left in the third period. Nathan Savage assisted on the tally. The Vipers' penalty kill excelled, as LaSalle gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Vipers kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mat Ouellet made 33 saves on 38 shots. LaSalle got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. LaSalle also got points from Korey Morgan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Primeau, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Brett Langlois also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Pickard Graham, who had one and Chris Pignanelli and Daniel Beaudoin, who contributed two each. The Rockets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Vipers were unable to stop Strathroy from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rockets eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Strathroy was helped by Sam Vokes, who registered one goal. Vokes scored 10:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Eddie Schulz picked up the assist. Strathroy additionally got points from Brett Dalton, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Strathroy also got a goal from Tyler Duarte as well. More assists for Strathroy came via Matt Laberge, who had two and Matt Knight-Bedour and Mark MacAulay, who each chipped in one. Paolo Battisti made 34 saves for LaSalle on 37 shots. The Vipers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rockets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Strathroy, Nick Boyer was ejected from the game.
