The Thorold Blackhawks relied on the scoring touch of Kyle Langdon, who netted two goals, to beat the Pelham Pirates, 3-0. Langdon's tallies came short handed at 2:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold and on the power play 18:06 into the first to make the score 2-0 Thorold.Thorold was boosted by Josh Astorino, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. The solid play of Astorino will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.27. The Blackhawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pelham power plays. Thorold's defensive play was more effective than usual against Pelham. The Blackhawks average 2.3 goals allowed per game. Thorold kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Kocsis made 39 saves on 42 shots. Mitchell Mendonca also scored for Thorold. More assists for Thorold came via Vito Scaringi, who had two and Dan Abbott and Alek Panov, who each chipped in one. The Blackhawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
