St. Catharines outlasts Welland, 3-2

The St. Catharines Falcons gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Welland Jr. Canadians.

St. Catharines gained the winning advantage on a goal by Tyler Morrison 9:00 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Falcons were sparked by Morrison, who had one goal.

St. Catharines stifled Welland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Catharines also got points from Paolo De Sousa, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Owen Peacock also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Ryan Doucette, Nicholas Dozzi, Devon Rymarchuk, Jesse Anderson, and Nick Prestia, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Canadians kept the Falcons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jonathan D Ilario made 36 saves on 38 shots.

Welland was helped by Damien Lalonde, who registered one goal. Lalonde scored 12:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Adam Barron picked up the assist. Welland also got a goal from JC Thivierge as well. More assists for Welland came via Francois Plamondon, Josh Allan, and Tyler Stranges, who each chipped in one.

St. Catharines incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chris Janzen made 23 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 26 shots. Welland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
