The Listowel Cyclones had trouble finding ways to stop the Elmira Sugar Kings, which beat Cyclones, 8-2. Elmira's offense was sparked by Mitch Klie, as he ended with five assists in a victory against Listowel. The Sugar Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Elmira gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Sugar Kings forced the Cyclones goalie Ryan Hergott to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Elmira surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Sugar Kings have scored at the pace of 5.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Elmira was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. Elmira also got points from Mitch Montgomery, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Eric Palazzolo, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Mac Clutsam, who also had one goal and two assists. Elmira also had goals scored by Sam Harris, Brodie Whitehead, Ethan Skinner, Jamie Huber, and Zac Coulter, who scored one goal each. In addition, Elmira received assists from Cash Seraphim, who had two and Adam Brubacher, Rob Kohli, and Harrison Domagala, who each chipped in one. Listowel was led by Derek Elliot, who tallied two goals. Elliot scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:38 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Elmira. The Cyclones earned a power play opportunity when Domagala was put in the box for cross checking. Ben VanOotegham assisted on the tally. Elliot's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Elmira with 9:32 left in the second period. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Tim Nauta, who had one. Jonathan Reinhart rejected 22 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Sugar Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Harris was ejected from the game. Hergott recorded 27 saves for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
