Guelph outlasts Brampton, 4-3

The Guelph Hurricanes and the Brampton Bombers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Guelph made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Giordano Finoro's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Hurricanes were paced by Finoro, who had one goal. Finoro scored 6:46 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Guelph. Matt Nightingale provided the assist.

Guelph was held below its usual level of production. The Hurricanes average 6.5 goals per game. Guelph was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.

Guelph also got points from Brooker Muir, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Guelph also had goals scored by Chad Herron and Peyton Backus, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Ryan Migliaccio, who had two and Alex Remedios, Mackenzie Flewelling, Patrick Kudla, and Cameron Stokes, who each chipped in one.

Brampton's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Bombers finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Brampton was helped by Brad Bollert, who racked up one goal. Bollert scored 15:41 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Nick Petropoulos picked up the assist. Others who scored for Brampton included Kevin Bray and Austin Kozluk, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Robert Orlando and Lucas Goodman, who contributed one each.

Jeremie Lintner recorded 25 saves for the Hurricanes. Guelph incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Hurricanes, Craig Martini was ejected from the game. Shane Dietl rejected 26 shots on goal for the Bombers. Brampton registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Anton Bura was ejected from the game.
