Lansfield lifts Niagara Falls over Ancaster, 3-1

Zack Lansfield had two goals to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks to a 3-1 victory over the Ancaster Avalanche.

Lansfield scored on the power play at 9:52 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 19:03 into the third to make the score 3-1 Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls was led by goalie Joeseph Murdaca, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Murdaca will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

The Canucks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Niagara Falls stifled Ancaster's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Avalanche were unable to stop the Canucks from sending pucks towards the net, and Niagara Falls eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Niagara Falls also got a goal from Frank Pucci as well. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara Falls were Austin Wright and Colton Anstey, who contributed one each.

Ancaster did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Avalanche average 3.5 goals per game.

Ancaster was led by Michael Faliero, who scored the team's only goal. Faliero scored 8:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster. Ryan Cox assisted on the tally.

The Canucks registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Avalanche's Matt Calas stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Ancaster totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 0-for-7 on the power play. For the Avalanche, Cole Nagy and Brett Farrelly were ejected from the contest.
