Cambridge vanquishes Stratford in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cambridge Winter Hawks defeated the Stratford Cullitons in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams.

Cambridge overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Winter Hawks trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by Stratford's Matthieu Bourbeau at 15:56 in the second period. Cambridge tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Zach Magwood at 16:32 in the second period.

The Winter Hawks were helped by Quinn Diamond, who finished with one goal. Diamond scored 7:58 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Parker Wood picked up the assist.

The Cullitons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Stratford's offense operated below its season average. The Cullitons put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game.

Stratford was helped by Zach Van Louwe, who tallied one goal. Van Louwe scored 6:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Jeff McArdle assisted on the tally. In addition, Stratford received assists from Deven Kropf and Patrick McKelvie, who each chipped in one.

Cambridge's Owen Savory stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Winter Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Cambridge, Kyle Liu was ejected from the game. Nick Redman rejected 24 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
