LaSalle survives penalties, beats St. Marys, 4-1Pyramid Recreation Centre Fri, Sep 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers' penalty kill was superb, as LaSalle survived multiple penalties to beat the St. Marys Lincolns, 4-1. The Vipers were sparked by Nick Gauvin, who had one goal. Gauvin scored on the power play 17:43 into the first period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle. LaSalle had gotten the advantage when St. Marys' Sean O`Brien was sent off for interference. Brett Langlois assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:36 into the first period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Vipers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. LaSalle had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Vipers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lincolns to score on any of their 10 power plays. LaSalle also got points from Brett Primeau, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for LaSalle included Korey Morgan and Connor Rosaasen, who each put in one. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Nathan Savage, Daniel Beaudoin, and Manny Silverio, who contributed one each. Paolo Battisti made 20 saves for LaSalle on 21 shots. The Vipers registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Team's Beaudoin and Kyler Carter were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Andrew Masters rejected 25 shots on goal for St. Marys. The Lincolns ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. St. Marys ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jordan Winter was ejected from the game.
