Ancaster penalty kill dominates in 6-3 defeat of PelhamPelham Meridian CC Fri, Sep 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pelham Pirates failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Ancaster Avalanche shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3. Ancaster was paced by Cole Nagy, who had one goal. Nagy scored short handed 10:32 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Ancaster. The Avalanche found themselves down a man on Lucas Triemstra's roughing. Aaron St. Pierre picked up the assist. Ancaster excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Avalanche forced Pelham goalie Matthew Camilleri to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Ancaster also had goals scored by Max Balinson, Lucas Pozzobon, Hayden Guitard, Spencer Leenders, and Ryan Cox, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ancaster received assists from William Kelly, Luke Zupan, Michael Pollice, Michael Faliero, and Brett Farrelly, who contributed one each. The Pirates were helped by Riley O Connell, who registered one goal. O Connell scored 6:44 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Others who scored for Pelham included Shawn Rooke and Thmas Young, who each put in one. More assists for Pelham came via Anthony Sorrentino, who had two and Riley Quesnelle and Brock Ackerman, who each chipped in one. Matt Calas recorded 27 saves for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Camilleri rejected 32 shots on goal for Pelham. The Pirates incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Pelham, Jake DeMaeyer and Rooke were ejected from the contest. |
