Dylan Pietrangelo recorded a shutout against the Thorold Blackhawks as the Niagara Falls Canucks picked up a 5-0 win. Niagara Falls pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 39 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:13 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Canucks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Thorold power plays. Niagara Falls kept Thorold's goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Astorino made 32 saves on 37 shots. The Canucks were helped by Nigel Slade, who registered one goal. Slade scored 11:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls. Christian Lea picked up the assist. Niagara Falls additionally got points from Austin Wright, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Niagara Falls included Colton Anstey and Trevor Simonick, who each put in one. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Zack Lansfield, who had one and Matthew Mannella and Mac Hollowell, who each chipped in three. The Blackhawks forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Thorold had been averaging 35.0 minutes in penalties per game. Dylan Pietrangelo made 25 saves for Niagara Falls on 25 shots. The Canucks registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Niagara Falls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Taggart Ledyard was ejected from the game. Team's Vito Scaringi, Tyler Sehovic, and Alek Panov were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
