Chatham uses shootout to best St. Thomas, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Chatham Maroons defeated the St. Thomas Stars in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. St. Thomas' shootout goal was scored by Spencer Hutchinson. Chatham also got a shootout goal from Brennan Feasey.

The Maroons came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Chatham fell behind 4-3 after a goal by the Stars' Carson Brookshaw at 4:32 in the third period. The Maroons knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Feasey at 7:44 in the third period.

Chatham was paced by Feasey, who had one goal.

St. Thomas was unable to stop the Maroons from sending pucks towards the net, and Chatham eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Maroons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Chatham also had goals scored by Trevor Richardson, Alexander Morgan, and Ian Faubert, who scored one goal each. In addition, Chatham received assists from Michael Verboom, who had two and Connor McKinnon, Carl Stapleton, and Brayden Hopkins, who each chipped in one.

The Stars' offense rang up 38 shots on Chatham's net.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Carson Moniz, who also registered one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also got a goal from Austin Elkin as well. More assists for St. Thomas came via Wade Russell, who had one and Hutchinson and Carter McCormick, who each chipped in two.

Jacob Lucier recorded 34 saves for the Maroons. Chatham registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Maroons, John Bowen was ejected from the game. St. Thomas' Nikolas Dampier stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
