Waterloo beats Brantford 4-2 after comeback scare

The Brantford 99ers tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Waterloo Siskins would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Waterloo made the score 4-0 on a goal by Danny Hanlon at 2:42 in the third period, and Brantford got as close as 4-2 when Zander Pryor scored 12:04 into the third period.

The 99ers' power play was ineffective against the Siskins' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Waterloo kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jack Moylan made 33 saves on 37 shots. The Siskins could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Waterloo was helped by Ryan Sparks ( APM ), who registered one goal. Sparks ( APM ) scored 3:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. Kyle Betts picked up the assist. Waterloo also got points from Matt Romund, who also had one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Gary Mantz as well. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Christian Mroczkowski, who had one and Brennan Blaszczak, who had two.

The 99ers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Waterloo power plays. Brantford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Nathan Ferris also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via David Storey, Paris Briscoe, and Scotty Penwarden, who contributed one each.

The Siskins' Evgeny Kiselev stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. For Waterloo, Romund was ejected from the game.
