Wichita Jr. Thunder rips Tulsa Jr. Oilers, 9-0

Wichita Jr. Thunder had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-0 win over Tulsa Jr. Oilers.

Wichita Jr. Thunder got the win thanks to a great game by Jet Bell, who had two goals and two assists. Bell scored the first of his two goals at 2:58 into the third period to make the score 6-0 Wichita Jr. Thunder. Tyler Larson picked up the assist. Bell's next tally made the score 9-0 Wichita Jr. Thunder with 4:58 left in the third period. Joel Gellvear provided the assist.

Wichita Jr. Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tulsa Jr. Oilers to score on any of its four power plays. Wichita Jr. Thunder forced Tulsa Jr. Oilers goalie Teke Murphy to work between the pipes, taking 64 shots. Wichita Jr. Thunder bested its season scoring average. Wichita Jr. Thunder averages 4.0 goals per game.

Wichita Jr. Thunder also got points from Gellvear, who also had one goal and two assists and Patrik Janac, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Wichita Jr. Thunder also had goals scored by Peter Ivicic, who had two and Dylan McDonald, Artis Mucenieks, and Jack McClelland, who each put in one. In addition, Wichita Jr. Thunder received assists from John Pierce, who had two, Peter Cicmanec, who had three, and Austin Barr, Max McClelland, Zach Balodis, and Joel Johnson, who contributed one each.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers' offense operated below its season average. Tulsa Jr. Oilers averages 2.3 goals per game. Tulsa Jr. Oilers struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Wichita Jr. Thunder to score three power play goals on five chances.
