Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Oklahoma City Blazers defeated Springfield Express in a shootout 6-5 (3-2 SO). The two teams needed 14 turns to complete the shootout. Springfield Express' shootout goals were scored by Josh Cook and Vito DeVito. In addition to the clincher, Oklahoma City Blazers got shootout goals from Victor Ekk and Kole Hudson.Oklahoma City Blazers came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Oklahoma City Blazers trailed 4-1 after a power play goal by Springfield Express' Quade Hamlin at 9:25 in the second period. Oklahoma City Blazers knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Hudson at 16:57 in the third period. Hudson had two goals and one assist to lead Oklahoma City Blazers. Hudson scored the first of his two goals at 15:13 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Springfield Express. Matthew Audette picked up the assist. Hudson's next tally made the score 5-5 with 3:03 left in the third period. Hunter Smith provided the assist. Oklahoma City Blazers kept Springfield Express' goalie busy throughout the game, and Bobby Dugan made 55 saves on 61 shots. Oklahoma City Blazers also got points from Ekk, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Oklahoma City Blazers also had goals scored by Ivan Bukshevannyy and Lubos Vacek, who each put in one. More assists for Oklahoma City Blazers came via Dylan Lamontagne, Sam Mancini, Eric Lietz, and Kirill Romanov, who each chipped in one. Springfield Express forced Oklahoma City Blazers' goaltenders to work in net, launching 67 shots and forcing 62 saves. Jakub Krejci made 43 stops and Braden Lajoie made 19. Springfield Express stifled Oklahoma City Blazers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Oklahoma City Blazers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Springfield Express incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
