Haynes lifts Fresno Monsters over San Diego, 6-1

Jacob Haynes had two goals to lead Fresno Monsters to a 6-1 victory over San Diego.

Haynes scored at 11:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 16:18 into the first to make the score 2-1 Fresno Monsters.

San Diego's power play was ineffective against Fresno Monsters' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Fresno Monsters forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game Fresno Monsters had been spending in the box. San Diego was unable to stop Fresno Monsters from sending pucks towards the net, and Fresno Monsters eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Fresno Monsters additionally got points from Evan Ingram, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Fresno Monsters also had goals scored by Michael Freeman, Kyle Jelinski, and Conner Osborne, who each put in one. More assists for Fresno Monsters came via Daniel Goodwin, Austin Browning, and Konner Gallagher, who each chipped in one and Mark Shroyer, Gianmarco Guidon, and Mitchell Dolman, who contributed two each.

San Diego's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. San Diego surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. San Diego's offense operated below its season average. San Diego averages 3.2 goals per game.

San Diego was led by Wesley Varrasso, who scored the team's only goal. Varrasso scored on the power play 7:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 San Diego. A high sticking penalty on Osborne had put San Diego on the power play. Sebastian Gruhler provided the assist.

Nathan Churchill recorded 21 saves for Fresno Monsters. Fresno Monsters registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. San Diego's Jokaim Jutras stopped 31 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
