Idaho Junior Steelheads rips Lake Tahoe Blue, 7-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Lake Tahoe Blue.

Idaho Junior Steelheads was led by Kris Apsitis, who grabbed one goal. Apsitis scored on the power play 10:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Idaho Junior Steelheads had taken the advantage when Lake Tahoe Blue's Igor Stibysh got sent off for tripping. Victor Carlsson picked up the assist.

Idaho Junior Steelheads stifled Lake Tahoe Blue's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Lake Tahoe Blue goalie Nick Bretzger to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Yegor Ivanov, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nikita Zgirskis, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Dimitris Jones, who also had one goal and one assist, and Arturs Sevcenko, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads included Oleg Losev and Robert Neuwirth, who each put in one. More assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads came via Kyle Smith, Johannes Yucel, Hunter Lester, and Kyle TenEyck, who each chipped in one.

Lake Tahoe Blue found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere eight shots against Idaho Junior Steelheads' defense.

Lake Tahoe Blue was led by Vladislav Polyashov, who scored the team's only goal. Polyashov scored 19:12 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Nikita Velmakin provided the assist.

Austin Althaus made seven saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads on eight shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bretzger rejected 51 shots on goal for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
