Springfield Express rolls over Wichita Jr. Thunder, 7-2

Springfield Express had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over Wichita Jr. Thunder.

Wichita Jr. Thunder's power play was ineffective against Springfield Express' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Springfield Express forced Wichita Jr. Thunder's goalies to work in net, launching 54 shots and forcing 47 saves. Jake Larson made 33 stops and Cooper Blaine made 14. Springfield Express outdid its season average for goals scored. Springfield Express averages 3.8 goals per game.

Springfield Express was helped by Linus Dahlberg, who had one goal and two assists. Dahlberg scored on the power play 5:08 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Springfield Express. Springfield Express earned a power play opportunity when John Pierce was put in the box for high sticking. Derek Smith provided the assist. Springfield Express additionally got points from Eric Hewitt, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Diego Bartlett, who also registered one goal and one assist, Vito DeVito, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Josh Cook, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Springfield Express also had goals scored by Austin Purdy and Alexander Lobachev, who each put in one. More assists for Springfield Express came via Seth Ensor, who had three and Per Eriksson, Mike Heverly, Tobias Sjolund, and Collin Young, who each chipped in one.

Springfield Express was unable to stop Wichita Jr. Thunder from sending pucks towards the net, and Wichita Jr. Thunder eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Wichita Jr. Thunder could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was led by Peter Cicmanec, who had one goal. Cicmanec scored on the power play 3:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Springfield Express. A high sticking penalty on Hewitt had put Wichita Jr. Thunder on the power play. Jack McClelland picked up the assist. Joel Johnson also scored for Wichita Jr. Thunder. In addition, Wichita Jr. Thunder received assists from Peter Ivicic, Artis Mucenieks, and Zach Balodis, who contributed one each.

Springfield Express' Bobby Dugan stopped 45 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Springfield Express incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
