Huge game by Giers boosts Valencia Flyers over Long Beach Bombers, 5-1

Valencia Flyers' Niklas Giers had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over Long Beach Bombers.

Giers scored at 13:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Valencia Flyers and again while on the power play 12:53 into the third to make the score 5-1 Valencia Flyers.

Valencia Flyers forced Long Beach Bombers' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots and forcing 43 saves. Dennis Tschudi made 37 stops and Kent Nusbaum made six. Valencia Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Long Beach Bombers power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Valencia Flyers additionally got points from Ray Wilson, who also had one goal and one assist and Adam Papayoanou, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Valencia Flyers also got a goal from Wil Barnett as well. More assists for Valencia Flyers came via Tyler Lazarek, Greg Figg, Jakob Kranabetter, Kory Medeiros, Brian Martinez, and Chase Thesman, who contributed one each.

Long Beach Bombers was held below its usual level of production. Long Beach Bombers averages 4.2 goals per game.

Long Beach Bombers was led by Glenn Corey, who scored the team's only goal. Corey scored 48 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Long Beach Bombers. Johan Beatty picked up the assist.

Valencia Flyers' Ole Nilsen stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Valencia Flyers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Long Beach Bombers ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
