Cheyenne Stampede's Michael Ballard scored 2:44 into overtime to beat Salt Lake City Moose, 5-4 (OT). Cheyenne Stampede nearly gave up a two-score lead. Cheyenne Stampede made it 4-2 on a goal by Norbert Micik at 17:55 in the second period. Salt Lake City Moose got to within 4-3 on a short handed goal by Ross Gann at 8:18 in the third period. Ballard had two goals and one assist to lead Cheyenne Stampede. Ballard scored the first of his two goals at 15:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cheyenne Stampede. Nolan Kinney picked up the assist. Ballard's next tally made the score 5-4 Cheyenne Stampede with 17:16 left in. Max Legere provided the assist. Cheyenne Stampede forced Salt Lake City Moose's goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Brad Robertson made 10 stops and Ryan Gasparovic made 17. Cheyenne Stampede struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Salt Lake City Moose to score two power play goals on three chances. Cheyenne Stampede additionally got points from Craig Thurston, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Micik, who also registered one goal and one assist. Branko Oktavec also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Sebastian Crystal, Heath Lantz, and Cody Key, who each chipped in one. Salt Lake City Moose's offense rang up 36 shots on Cheyenne Stampede's net. Salt Lake City Moose was helped by Cole Corson, who finished with one goal. Corson scored on the power play 14:37 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cheyenne Stampede. Salt Lake City Moose had taken the advantage when Cheyenne Stampede's Key got sent off for cross checking. Brett Myer assisted on the tally. Salt Lake City Moose also got points from Charlie Granath, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Myer, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Salt Lake City Moose came via Erik Ahlen, who had two and Bryce Lugt, Zach Ahiers, Dan Veselovsky, and Dmitry Kuznetsov, who contributed one each. Egor Riabchikov made 32 saves for Cheyenne Stampede on 36 shots. Cheyenne Stampede incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Salt Lake City Moose incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
