Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Las Vegas Storm defeated San Diego in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

Vincent Dekumbis had two goals to lead Las Vegas Storm to victory. Dekumbis' tallies came on the power play at 9:51 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 1:15 into the third to make the score 3-2 Las Vegas Storm.

San Diego's power play was ineffective against Las Vegas Storm's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Las Vegas Storm's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. Las Vegas Storm surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Las Vegas Storm forced San Diego goalie Jokaim Jutras to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

San Diego racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. San Diego had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. San Diego kept Las Vegas Storm's goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrik Jokela made 37 saves on 41 shots.

San Diego was led by Nurbek Baltayev, who racked up one goal and one assist. Baltayev scored 10:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 San Diego. Artemiy Yaroslavskiy picked up the assist. Others who scored for San Diego included Tyler Kubara, Toni Haikarainen, and Mike Caruso, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for San Diego were Erik Hayes, Wesley Varrasso, and Sebastian Gruhler, who contributed one each.

Las Vegas Storm registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Las Vegas Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Fournier was ejected from the game. Jutras recorded 38 saves for San Diego.
