Wichita Jr. Thunder rips Tulsa Jr. Oilers, 6-3

Wichita Jr. Thunder had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over Tulsa Jr. Oilers.

Wichita Jr. Thunder's penalty kill excelled, as Wichita Jr. Thunder gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Wichita Jr. Thunder forced Tulsa Jr. Oilers' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Colter Pritchard made 15 stops and Tyler Jansen made 13. Wichita Jr. Thunder stifled Tulsa Jr. Oilers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wichita Jr. Thunder found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Wichita Jr. Thunder averages 3.4 goals per contest.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was helped by Peter Cicmanec, who grabbed two goals. Cicmanec scored the first of his two goals at 17:45 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zach Balodis provided the assist. Cicmanec's next tally made the score 6-1 Wichita Jr. Thunder with 18:58 left in the third period. Tom Lindstrom assisted on the tally. Wichita Jr. Thunder also got points from Joel Gellvear, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Wichita Jr. Thunder also had goals scored by Patrik Janac, Chance Aquino, and Tom Simpson, who each put in one. In addition, Wichita Jr. Thunder received assists from John Pierce, Peter Ivicic, Max McClelland, Jack McClelland, Joel Johnson, and Tyler Larson, who each chipped in one.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers was helped by Sam Mancini, who had two goals. Mancini scored the first of his two goals at 3:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tulsa Jr. Oilers. Cooper Dibiase picked up the assist. Mancini's next tally made the score 6-2 Wichita Jr. Thunder with 16:03 left in the third period. Ivan Bukshevannyy provided the assist. Tulsa Jr. Oilers additionally got points from Bukshevannyy, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa Jr. Oilers were Hunter Best and Keiran Spettie, who contributed one each.

Jake Larson recorded 23 saves for Wichita Jr. Thunder. Wichita Jr. Thunder incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tulsa Jr. Oilers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
