Idaho Junior Steelheads beats Butte Cobras 8-1 as Power gets hat trick

Macky Power netted a hat trick to lead Idaho Junior Steelheads over Butte Cobras, 8-1.

Power's first goal came 2:19 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:30 into the second and at 12:00 into the second.

Idaho Junior Steelheads led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring four goals in the second.

Idaho Junior Steelheads put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Butte Cobras to score on any of its four power plays. Butte Cobras was unable to stop Idaho Junior Steelheads from sending pucks towards the net, and Idaho Junior Steelheads eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Idaho Junior Steelheads also got points from Nikita Zgirskis, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dimitris Jones, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Kyle TenEyck, who also had one goal and two assists. Kris Apsitis also scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads. Other players who recorded assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads were Yegor Ivanov, who had three and Jack York, Parker Lewis, Victor Carlsson, Robert Neuwirth, and Hunter Lester, who contributed one each.

Butte Cobras could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Butte Cobras puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

Butte Cobras was led by Anton Zimmer, who scored the team's only goal. Zimmer scored 3:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Butte Cobras.

Idaho Junior Steelheads' starting goalie, Austin Althaus, made 13 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Ben Perone, who stopped six shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tage Rustgi recorded 33 saves for Butte Cobras. Butte Cobras incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
