Ogden Mustangs tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Casper Coyotes held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Viktor Thim put Casper Coyotes up 4-1 in the second period, but Ogden Mustangs pulled to within two on Clay Cross's tally 8:40 into the third period. Casper Coyotes got the win thanks to a great game by Thim, who had two goals and one assist. Thim scored the first of his two goals at 12:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Casper Coyotes. Erik Stenbacka picked up the assist. Thim's next tally made the score 4-1 Casper Coyotes with 4:01 left in the second period. Casper Coyotes had taken the advantage when Ogden Mustangs' Edvin Johansson got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Troy Saunders provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:22 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Casper Coyotes racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time.
