Idaho Junior Steelheads rips Butte Cobras, 7-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Butte Cobras.

Idaho Junior Steelheads pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Idaho Junior Steelheads was led by Robert Neuwirth, who finished with one goal and one assist. Neuwirth scored 6:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Kyle Kruenegel assisted on the tally.

Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Butte Cobras goalie Tage Rustgi to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Ondrej Valo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Macky Power, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Hunter Lester, who also had one goal and one assist. Idaho Junior Steelheads also had goals scored by Nikita Zgirskis, Kyle Smith, and Dimitris Jones, who each put in one. More assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads came via Jack York, Kris Apsitis, Oleg Losev, Victor Carlsson, Ryan Cutter, Kyle TenEyck, and Kyle Williams, who each chipped in one.

Butte Cobras was held below its usual level of production. Butte Cobras puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Butte Cobras found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 10 shots against Idaho Junior Steelheads' defense.

Butte Cobras was led by Josh Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored on the power play 6:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Butte Cobras had taken the advantage when Idaho Junior Steelheads' Losev got sent off for roughing. James Kilgore provided the assist.
