Colorado Eagles outlasts Colorado RoughRiders, 5-3

Colorado Eagles gutted out a close 5-3 win against Colorado RoughRiders.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Cade Warner's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

With three goals and two assists between them, Scott Smoot and Warner teamed up to power Colorado Eagles' offense. Smoot registered two goals and Warner also added one goal and two assists.

Colorado Eagles forced Colorado RoughRiders' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Josh Aycock made 24 stops and Kirill Pustovalov made eight. Colorado Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Colorado RoughRiders to score on any of its four power plays.

Colorado Eagles also got points from Warner, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Tanner Ulland also scored for Colorado Eagles. More assists for Colorado Eagles came via Levi Weber, who had three and Ty Hubbard, Brian Brink, and MacGregor Haddon, who contributed one each.

Colorado RoughRiders kept Colorado Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Quinn Wold made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Colorado RoughRiders was led by Walker Harris, who had two goals. Harris scored the first of his two goals at 20 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Colorado RoughRiders. Nick Kukuris provided the assist. Harris' next tally made the score 2-1 Colorado RoughRiders with 1:39 left in the first period. Sage Dugas assisted on the tally. Colorado RoughRiders also got a goal from Tanner West as well. Other players who recorded assists for Colorado RoughRiders were Hunter Behrens and Charles Joly, who each chipped in one.

Colorado Eagles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Colorado RoughRiders ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Colorado RoughRiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Devon Pilkington was ejected from the game.
