Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Madison Smiddy secured the win for Penn State University with a goal in the third period. Smiddy had a great game for the Nitty Lions, netting two goals. Penn State University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Miami University power plays. The Nitty Lions got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Penn State University also had goals scored by Jacqueline Saideh and Riley OConnor, who each put in one. More assists for Penn State University came via Darby Kern, who had three and Cara Mendelson and Anna Marcus, who each chipped in one. Miami University's offense operated below its season average.
