Miami University wins tough contest against Liberty University, 3-2Goggin Ice - Rink A Fri, Nov 21, 2014 The Miami University RedHawks and the Liberty University Flames were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Miami University made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Rachael Booth at 19:58 of the second period. The RedHawks were led by Booth, who tallied one goal. Miami University could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The RedHawks average 7.2 goals per game. Miami University also got points from Kaley Mooney, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Miami University also got a goal from Sarah Landkowski as well. In addition, Miami University received assists from Katie Augustine and Hayley Williams, who each chipped in one. Liberty University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Flames put an average of 5.9 pucks into the net per game. Liberty University was helped by Amanda Grainger, who had one goal. Grainger scored 3:02 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Alexis Alexopoulos picked up the assist. Catharine Burrell also scored for Liberty University. Other players who recorded assists for Liberty University were Carrie Jickling and Courtney Gilmour, who contributed one each. Emalee Wills recorded 26 saves for Miami University. The RedHawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Flames' Kristina Toppazzini stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Liberty University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
