Williams nets hat trick, leads Miami University to 5-2 win over Adrian College

A hat trick by Hayley Williams was the highlight in RedHawks' 5-2 win against the Adrian College Bulldog.

Williams got on the scoresheet 6:13 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:03 into the second and at 19:38 into the second.

The Miami University RedHawks could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Miami University puts an average of 7.5 pucks into the net per game. The RedHawks forced Adrian College goalie Emily Michelin to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Others who scored for Miami University included Becca Senden and Katie Augustine, who scored one goal each. In addition, Miami University received assists from Rachael Booth, who had three and Carly Noble, Cassidy Guthrie, Alyssa Visalli, Izzy Smith, and Kaley Mooney, who contributed one each.

The Bulldog put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Miami University to score on any of its three power plays. Adrian College's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Bulldog give up 1.4 goal per game.

Adrian College was helped by Jessica Rushing, who tallied one goal. Rushing scored on the power play 5:19 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Miami University. The Bulldog had gotten the advantage when the RedHawks' Jessica Gould was sent off for interference. Cara Harm picked up the assist. Adrian College additionally got points from Alicia Tait, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Adrian College were Jenna Jubinville, who had one.

Carly Vanorden rejected 13 shots on goal for Miami University. The RedHawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Adrian College's Michelin stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Bulldog incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
