Miami University rips Massachusetts University of, 5-0

The Massachusetts University of Minutemen had trouble finding ways to stop the Miami University RedHawks, which beat Minutemen, 5-0.

Rachael Booth was all over the ice for Miami University, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Booth scored on the power play 14:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Miami University. The RedHawks had taken the advantage when Massachusetts University of's Ally Perdios got sent off for tripping. Hayley Williams provided the assist.

Miami University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The RedHawks average 7.7 goals per game. Miami University's offense rang up 49 shots on the Minutemen's net. The defensemen of the RedHawks were also effective in Massachusetts University of's zone, and came away with two goals.

Miami University additionally got points from Morgan Mcgrath, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Williams, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Miami University also had goals scored by Carly Noble and Jessica Gould, who scored one goal each. More assists for Miami University came via Cassidy Guthrie, Alyssa Visalli, Caitlin Karpinski, Kaley Mooney, and Jordan Hanson, who contributed one each.

The Minutemen were held below their usual level of production. Massachusetts University of puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Minutemen's offense were handcuffed by Miami University's defensive play, and Massachusetts University of managed only 10 shots on goal during the game. The Minutemen's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Massachusetts University of gives up 1.8 goal per game.

Emalee Wills recorded 10 saves for the RedHawks. Miami University incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kasey Zegel made 44 saves for the Minutemen on 49 shots. Massachusetts University of incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors and had no power play opportunities.
