The Minnesota University of Golden Gophers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Miami University RedHawks held on for a 3-2 victory.

Miami University made the score 3-0 on a goal by Kathleen Baldwin at 9:55 in the second period, and Minnesota University of got as close as 3-2 when Shelby Parisian scored 11:47 into the third period.

The RedHawks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Miami University finished below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game. The RedHawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Miami University puts an average of 8.0 pucks into the net per game. The Golden Gophers were unable to stop the RedHawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Miami University eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The RedHawks were helped by Jordan Hanson, who registered one goal. Hanson scored 7:45 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Miami University. Alyssa Visalli provided the assist. Minnesota University of was helped by Melissa Drown, who racked up one goal. Drown scored 1:30 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Miami University. Cecilia Hardacker assisted on the tally.
