Colorado Evolution tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but Cheyenne Stampede held on for a 4-3 victory. A goal by Heath Lantz put Cheyenne Stampede up 4-0 in the first period, but Colorado Evolution pulled to within one on Francisco Yslas's tally 13:00 into the third period. Cheyenne Stampede excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Cheyenne Stampede kept Colorado Evolution's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sergii Pysarenko made 28 saves on 32 shots. Cheyenne Stampede was helped by Michael Ballard, who registered two goals. Ballard scored the first of his two goals at 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cheyenne Stampede. Nolan Kinney assisted on the tally. Ballard's next tally made the score 3-0 Cheyenne Stampede with 7:59 left in the first period. Niklavs Balgalvis picked up the assist. Cheyenne Stampede additionally got points from Cody Key, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Markus Bergsten, Craig Thurston, Jeremy Szczurek, and Alec Sara, who contributed one each. Colorado Evolution also got points from Dmitrijs Komarnickis, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Colorado Evolution also got a goal from Nikita Sokov as well. More assists for Colorado Evolution came via Christopher Miller and Jon Dewerd, who each chipped in one. Egor Riabchikov made 21 saves for Cheyenne Stampede on 24 shots. Cheyenne Stampede totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Colorado Evolution ended with 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. Colorado Evolution ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Rems was ejected from the game.
