Butte Cobras falls to Whitefish Wolverines in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Whitefish Wolverines' Aleksei Garin scored 1:11 into overtime to beat Butte Cobras, 2-1 (OT).

Whitefish Wolverines was led by goalie Brendan Duff, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Duff certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.97 entering the contest.

Whitefish Wolverines' penalty kill excelled, as Whitefish Wolverines gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Whitefish Wolverines' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Whitefish Wolverines had been spending in the box. Butte Cobras was unable to stop Whitefish Wolverines from sending pucks towards the net, and Whitefish Wolverines eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Whitefish Wolverines also got points from Danny Roe, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Whitefish Wolverines came via Tyler Latimer, Bryan Polmear, and Ian Wiens, who each chipped in one.

Butte Cobras stifled Whitefish Wolverines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Butte Cobras did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Butte Cobras averages 3.3 goals per game.

Butte Cobras was led by Anton Zimmer, who scored the team's only goal. Zimmer scored on the power play 15:11 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Butte Cobras had taken the advantage when Whitefish Wolverines' Kieffer Helbing got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. PJ Silveria provided the assist.

Whitefish Wolverines registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For Whitefish Wolverines, Helbing was ejected from the game. Butte Cobras' Reed Kinsey stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Butte Cobras ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
